    Hey folks.  It’s time for a healthy tip.  This time of year often begins the season of baking, and the spices of this season often include my favorite…cinnamon.

    There are many great things about this spice that may inspire you to use a sprinkling of it more often.  Studies have shown it can improve blood sugar levels, lower cholesterol, inhibit bacterial growth, reduce leukemia cells, and fight arthritic pain.  It also is a good source of calcium and manganese.

    Man, I’ve caught it. As soon as I woke up this morning I felt compelled to bake muffins. Armed with my go-to pumpkin muffin recipe, I varied the ingredients slightly to include a combination of millet, buckwheat, garbanzo, tapioca and almond flours – chock full o’ fiber and protein! I have to pat myself on the back and say they turned out delicioso.

    And this baking bug must be hereditary, because when I had my usual Sunday phone chat with Momma Grater and mentioned what I was doing, she told me she planned on baking pumpkin...
