Caitlin Grater, LMT, moved back to Pittsburgh in 2011 after a 12 year hiatus in New York City. With a background as a professional dancer, she trained at Pittsburgh Ballet Theater School her entire adolescence, graduating from their pre-professional program, and went on to perform with modern dance companies in New York after obtaining her BFA in dance from NYU. While in NY, she graduated from the Swedish Institute, College of Health Sciences. There, she trained in both Eastern and Western massage modalities, most notably advanced medical massage techniques and Shiatsu.
She has studied pregnancy massage, Ortho-Bionomy®, and Neural Reset Therapy ®, among several other energetic theories and holds a certification in Medical Massage. In addition, she is also a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
With her diverse background, she has developed a massage style that incorporates many aspects of her training. Assessing posture and pain, she blends Swedish and Deep Tissue strokes with myofascial release, trigger point, nervous system techniques and energetic work to achieve a fully integrated and therapeutic experience. A holistic thinker, Caitlin believes in the power of food and positive states of mind as true healing agents and aims to help her clients find connections between their posture, diet, stress, and the physical pain they may be presenting. Her clients have included many Broadway performers, classical dancers, athletes, and stressed out office workers.
